| Nakia is a Philadelphia
native who now resides in Wilmington, DE. She has been dancing for
10 years; she eats, sleeps and breathes the dance. She is
currently a member of the Philly Momements Dance Company, which is a Hip
Hop based company and New Leja
Dance Company, which is a Modern Technique based company. She has
had intense training in the following techniques: Horton, Vaganova
Ballet, Graham, Dunham, and Traditional Senegalese African Dance.
She has attended various Workshops, Summer Intensives, Master Classes,
and Dance Conferences. She has received her B.F.A. in Dance from
Howard University, in Washington, DC. She has interned with
American Dance Festival in Durham, NC, Philadanco in Philadelphia, PA,
Deeply Rooted Theater in Chicago, IL, Dallas Black Dance Theater
in Dallas, TX, and Umufundali in Philadelphia, PA. Her artistry
isn’t only shared through performance but also instruction and
choreography. |
