NCDA student Laura Brown is returning for another season to the Rockett Intensive this June.  She has won a scholarship in dance at Gaucher College.  She spent time last July at the Rockettes Summer Intensive program at Point Park University in Pittsburgh.  Laura auditioned with 600 young dancers and was one of the 300-400 chosen for the program.  She will be a senior at the Cab Calloway School of the Arts and has been a student of the New Castle Dance & Music Academy since she was 3 years old.  Laura plans to major in business and dance in college and hopes to try out for Rockettes traveling Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and then audition for the New York Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

ROBERT MOSES VISITS NCDA

On Jan 12, 2008, Robert Moses, a world reknowned dance instructor, conducted a master class at the Peoples Plaza Studio in Jazz, Funk and Hip-Hop for 28 dancers from New Castle Dance and Music Academy's 3 locations in Bear, Newark and Smyrna.  Many dancers will attend the "Wild" Dance Convention in Washington DC where Robert Moses will also teach in February.  His classes are packed with technique, fun and energy.  Everyone had an educational and fun time.

COMPETITION NEWS

Nicolette Pate and Dina Desimone won 2nd Place at the New York Competition on March 7, 2008.  Ali Zdrojewski, Hannah Greer, Sarah Robinson, Laura Griffin, Ketorah Braithwaite, Melanie Drummond, Brianna Bergeron, Morgan Hojnicki, Dina DeSimone and Cameron Capp of the  Diamond Cut Dancers  Jr. and Star Sapphire Sr. won elite Silver.

ALEX PRUSHINSKI

Alex Prushinski pirouettes like a princess in this season's Nutcracker as Clara.  She auditioned for the Ballet Elite of Delaware's 4th season earning the lead part that many girls dream of!  After many hours of rehearsal, the transformation took place at the Smyrna Opera House into an enchanted, traditional holiday spectacular.  The ballet Company danced to two full house shows, including Smyrna kindergarten.  Alex has been a member of the Ballet Elite of Delaware for three years, and a Diamond Cut Dancer for eight years.  She has been taking dance lessons as a student of The New Castle Dance & Music Academy since the age of 3.

JENNIFER GIROSO

Jennifer Giroso was lead Arabian Dancer in this season's Nutcracker.  She also entertained the Smyrna Kindergarten during intermission as Angelina Ballerina.
